The #IAMGIVING4BUSHIRI Challenge is in full effect, a statement from the Office of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri states, calling all members of Christian non-denominational evangelical church known as the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) to engage in charitable work for in their communities.

“The Bible says giving is a sacrifice and sacrifice provokes God. Between today (Saturday), starting now, and tomorrow (Sunday), we want to provoke God’s hand of protection and favour for our spiritual parents through the sacrifice of giving,” reads part of the statement addressed to ECG stewards, members, followers and all PSBM Partners.

The Church’s Spokesperson, Ephraim Nyondo, told that #IAMGIVING4BUSHIRI Challenge is a call to members “to give anything of value to someone you wish, or someone in need.”

Nyondo said, “These can be groceries, food, a cloth, a book, a fruit—just anything so that we provoke God through sacrifice. You can even give your time, through sharing a word of God with someone.”

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, and his wife Prophetess Mary Bushiri have been involved in many charitable works around the world, including work in Botswana, Malawi, Nicaragua, Nigeria, and South Africa. He established a philanthropic organization called “Shepherd Bushiri Foundation” where he provides for the needy and less privileged.

ECG has a total membership of more than 8 Million registered members in 48 countries, with 3 Million of these in South Africa. The church has its headquarters in Pretoria, South Africa.
