The Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) Church says it is to take the 2020-2021 miracle crossover night to Malawi Square at Umodzi Park in Lilongwe.

This comes barely a week Malawi government reversed the earlier accreditation to have the function hosted at Bingu National Stadium.

According to the statement signed by ECG public relations officer Ephraim Nyondo the church has resolved to carry out the service at Umodzi Park where High-technology outdoor studio shall be engraved for wide scale crossover broadcast.

Nyondo said; “ECG Church would like to inform its members, followers, partners and the general public that it has permission from Umodzi Park in Lilongwe to use their Malawi Square to plant a high-tech outdoor studio which will shoot and broadcast the Miracle Night Crossover on 31st December.”

He explained that due to space limitations at Malawi Square and, also, the need for strict adherence to COVID-19 regulations, the Church will only permit limited members, from different parts of the world, who will be issued with tickets to be at the studio.

“As such, the general populace is advised to stay home and connect to the service through our Zoom conferencing technologies, ready and poised to accommodate over 1 million people across the world.”

Besides connecting through Zoom, the church has already made strides in ensuring that the Miracle Night Crossover is widely covered by a string of local and international television networks.

So far, apart from the church’s media outlets the church is also in talks with other television networks such as Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Times Television, Rainbow Television and Zodiak Television to cover the event LIVE.

In the statement Nyondo also rebuked tales circulating stating that Malawi government stopped ECG Church from holding its Crossover at Bingu Stadium citing “the truth of the matter is that the Stadium Management cancelled the event fearing that with the numbers we attract, it would be challenging to implement COVID-19 regulations and also to prepare the Stadium for CAF games in 2021.”

Nyondo attribute that the church agreed with the position Stadium Management took and eventually opted for a manageable Malawi Square for planting an outdoor studio with limited members attending.

He also expressed shocked over reports of availability of President Chakwera at crossover ceremony saying they neither received such a communication from State House nor did the church engage the high office on the same.

“That letter was fake; probably, created by those who want to plant discord between ECG Church and government. We dissociate ourselves from the letter and we would like to advise people behind to desist from such schemes.” –He said.

Crossover Night is an annual church event organized by church administration. It is always held on 31st December and it draws all ECG members and followers across the world. For the past 4 years, the event was held at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, where it drew over 100 000 people from different parts of the world.
