Malawi’s female gospel musician Wendy Favour Harawa has scooped another international award at the Ugandan Royal Gospel Music Awards.
Confirming the news on her Facebook
page Harawa said her ‘Zikomo’ song which she did with Levixone, won The Best Zouk Song of the year, 2021.
“We got it. We did it, and it’s coming to Malawi from Kampala Uganda. Yesternight our Song Zikomo with Levixone won The Best Zouk Song of the year at the Royal Gospel Music awards,” reacted Harawa.
The multi-award-winning gospel musician further thanked Africans, Ugandans and Malawians in particular for voting for her song with Levixone, ‘Zikomo’ claiming without the votes she wouldn’t have won the award.
Harawa was also quick to thank her management team and her spiritual father who is the leader of The Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Shepherd Bushiri for moral and financial support.
“Thank you so much Uganda, Malawi and Africa for your votes. I give the glory back to God, My management team thank you so much. My Mum thank you. Special thanks to Levixone I wouldn’t have done it without you King of Gospel.
“My Spiritual Daddy, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri… someone said behind every successful gospel Music minister there is a Man of God and I agree. Above Everything I give glory to God for the blessings and for choosing me,” she added.
Harawa and Levixone’s ‘Zikomo’ was nominated for the best Zouk song of the year along with other six songs including:
Yansasira by Grace Nakimera,
Nibihinduka by Rachel T, Number One by Ivan T.I.T,Chips Ne Nkoko by Ken B,
Ensulo by Meeme Juliet and Gwamuyiika by Naome Yewu.
Royal Gospel Music is an all Christian celebration of Gospel Arts that support, nurture and grow Christian talent through different initiatives and says the awards are just a crown on the different projects they do as one of promoting arts.
Earlier this year, Harawa’s song with Guardian Angel from Kenya, ‘Akuwona’ won the Best Collaboration Song of the year, 2021 at the Maranatha USA awards.
In 2019 Harawa won Supplication Song Award at Maranatha Global Worship Music Awards in Kenya in a song she collaborated with Lulu and Jimmy D Psalmist, ‘Chisomo’.
