G-QUID Makes a Comeback with Pokopoko

By Tamandani Zimbiri

An upcoming gospel rapper G-QUID has released his new song ‘Pokopoko’ which is his first to be dropped this year.  The song has been produced by Inkosi and S-One.

Born Gift Mkulichi and a final year student at Mzuzu University, G-QUID started ministering through music in 2016 and has released a number of tracks. Such as Balamanthu, Nkhulupilire, and an EP titled The Narrow Path in November of 2021. This time around has made a comeback with Pokopoko which simply implies make noise.

In an interview with zambuye.com the rapper explained that the motivation for Pokopoko has been taken from the Bible.

“The point is, we should not just be quite but must take the responsibility of proclaiming the gospel so that others should be served. Let’s work in the vineyard. Luke 10:2 says plenty is the harvest but few are laborers.”

The Blantyre based rapper made it clear that with Pokopoko he intends to make people understand that it is very much right to make noise for the Lord to fulfill the mission.

“I want people to learn that just staying silent and doing nothing for God is not pleasing. They should use the different gifts they have to preach the good news to multitudes and win souls for his kingdom. Let’s make noise for Christ, criticisms and judgements should not stop us.”

G-QUID told zambuye.com that he will be shooting the video for the song next month after  they close for this semester. The rapper who is being inspired by artist such as David Kalirani, Suffix, and Sir Creedy described his journey in the gospel field as an awesome experience regardless of the challenges.
